One of the best things about meeting together as a church in Manchester on a Sunday morning is having the opportunity to worship God together. This is an important part of practicing your faith as there is power when Christians get together in Jesus’ name and you’ll find great encouragement to see other Christians connecting with God along with you.
As a church in Manchester, this is part of our identity and something that we love to do every week as we explore different musical styles and sing a variety of worship songs – some are new and some have been used to praise God for a while.
The truth is that faith is a relationship with God and so worship should be a part of our everyday lives.
Praising and worshipping God is a powerful way to connect with him as we celebrate who he is and what he has done in our lives. It’s one of the main ways that we can declare the greatness of God and his power to save and change lives. It benefits us by bringing us closer to the Lord but actually worship is all about him as we seek to glorify him in this way.
Psalm 100 says “Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.”
As we come to pray and read the Bible, worship opens our hearts to God and helps our minds to focus on him.
Just like with prayer, worship is a spiritual activity that can be done as part of daily life. Taking time to sing to God using a worship album or just your own voice while you drive the car, get ready in the morning or go about chores in the house or garden means that you are focussing your mind and heart on the Lord, being mindful that he is there with you all of the time.
Why not make a decision this week to make worship a way of life and build in time spent celebrating and praising your God?
Worship should be part of our daily experience as well as part of our time together as a local church.
