The True Meaning of Attraction – Being All for the Lord
When we think of attractive people, we often picture celebrities, influencers, or those with striking physical features. However, as we grow in our faith, our perception of attraction can change. I learned this early in my walk with Jesus when I joined a church filled with incredibly attractive people—not because of their looks, but because they were completely devoted to God.
One person who stood out was my pastor, John. He wasn’t conventionally attractive—he had eyes that pointed in different directions, was balding, and wore questionable suits. Yet, there was something captivating about him. The same could be said for Jezza, a chaotic and tech-savvy youth pastor who was always singing worship songs in the kitchen. What made them so compelling? They were all for the Lord.
When we live wholeheartedly for God, it changes how people see us. Our passion, generosity, and faith become magnetic. Today, I want to explore how we can embody this kind of devotion and why it is so important.
In Luke 21:1-4, Jesus observes a poor widow giving two small copper coins—her entire livelihood—to the temple treasury. Compared to the large sums given by the wealthy, her offering seemed insignificant. Yet, Jesus was drawn to her act of faith. Unlike the religious leaders who gave for show, she gave out of pure devotion. She was truly all for the Lord.
This passage teaches us that appearances can be deceptive. Those who seem generous may not be giving sacrificially, while those with little may be offering all they have. What makes someone truly attractive in God’s eyes is not their wealth, status, or talent, but their unwavering commitment to Him.
If we want to be people who draw others to Christ, we must prioritise our relationship with Him above all else. Living all for the Lord means trusting Him with our time, resources, and future. It means letting our faith shape our actions and allowing God’s love to shine through us.
Are we willing to give God our all? Do we live in a way that reflects total trust in Him? Let’s strive to be people whose attraction comes not from worldly qualities, but from our wholehearted devotion to the Lord.
