Straightening What’s Crooked – Jesus Calls Out Financial Mismanagement
Jesus spoke about money more than almost any other topic. Why? Because finances have a powerful influence on our lives. In Luke 21:3-4, Jesus contrasts the wealthy who give out of their abundance with a poor widow who gives all she has. He highlights the difference between those who give for show and those who give in faith.
In today’s world, financial struggles are common. Many of us overspend, fail to budget, and find ourselves trapped in cycles of debt. We think cutting back on giving will solve our problems, but in reality, financial freedom comes when we trust God with our resources.
One practical way to straighten out financial struggles is to follow biblical principles of stewardship. This includes:
-
Giving to God first before spending on other things.
-
Regularly reviewing our cash flow.
-
Avoiding unnecessary purchases.
-
Using budgeting tools and financial advice.
If we want to be all for the Lord, we must ensure our finances align with His priorities. Let’s be wise stewards, trusting that when we honour God with our money, He will provide for our needs.
